My View Each Workday       ©2010 mbbin2
Panasonic DMC-G1       16th place, 22 points
1/800s, f10, ISO 100, ?, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: converted from rw2, cropped to eliminate part of my car window, and resized in CS4.       Extra Info: Every work day as I exit and make a u back over the freeway, this is my view. On some mornings when the sun is hitting the buildings just right, it is spectacular. I always take a virtual photo, but usually there is not time to take a actual one. Because of this challenge, I grabbed a quick one without focusing on anything in particular. Please excuse the light standard in the middle but there was no time to consider the composition. I did not want to get rear-ended.

I like the lampost! it give a depth of field in the centre of the picture.
I see the local authority didnt hep with low mtce greenery. some nice colours in their tubs look so much better.
the view as you say as you leave make the start of the journey to forward to. whats the veiw from the work window like?

There are so many time when I am driving that I would love to be able to stop traffic and take a picture. This is well done for on the fly! I'd have it crooked as heck. :-)

I think this is a fabulous composition let alone one done on the fly for a quick grab. The middle double light standard with the two single light standards on either side are perfectly balanced and the series of planters running along the near horizon add a distinctive element of a patterned design. With the city backdrop, this makes a really effective composition and image. It might be better with different lighting but it is hard to know whether it would or not since the flat lighting near and far really hold those two elements together to make a cohesive whole.

I can certainly appreciate what you were trying to capture here. It must be a very impressive sight when the light and the atmosphere cooperate. I like it better when I crop away the poles on both sides and I would have cloned out the centre one too. Glad you did not get rear-ended :-) Sure is a stark contrast to the buildings in the Arboretum!

I think it is perfect and it gives a good impression about your way home. Did you take the picture while driving?

SO a perfect fit for the challenge. Did you thing perhaps a 16:9 format losing some sky might work?
