10s, f5, ISO 80, 45mm, Manual, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Minor perspective adjust, resize, sharpen.       Extra Info: The colour is straight from the camera and achieved by long night exposure with deliberate use of incorrect white balance setting. The structure is the facade of a hospital lit as you see it.

Thank you all for your votes and comments. Each one is appreciated.

Thank you Franz. I wonder if I labeled it "Diamonds", "Squares" or "Waffle" if it would have done better. Still I am pleased to receive as many comments as I did.

Thanks Ronoz. Just getting this was a technical challenge for me.

Michael, the true surface is flat; I moved to waffle colours and a red sky to coax some innovation into a shot I could not really capture. I know if you work it too much it means it's not that good but I still wanted to get some feedback so I entered it here knowing my outtake entries may have scored better but were less original and would get fewer comments.

Not the strongest pattern but really beautiful!

Good use of technique to create the effect & also framing & composition, in my TT.

I like the composition. Don't like the curved surface. Wonder why you have moved to red as opposed to blue. tt in any case

Lo Thanks. I tried different colours afterwards but lost most of the impact.

elliott I struggled with the dead centre composition too but nothing else looked right to me.

A very interesting angle, especially with the unusual colour.

very intriguing. didn't have a clue from the thumbnail. composing different or maybe cropping different would put it higher for me as i'm unsure of 'horizon' being dead center. but still in my favorites for sure. el

Your comments are always appreciated, raf. I'll post the less extreme angle in outtakes -- I actually tried for a waffle pattern but the windows were not quite square and the two angled rows of lit windows to the right, a happy coincidence, had me thinking zig zag. This angle was a lot tougher to make work than I expected but I opted for original rather than something I knew would be better photograohically but that I had done before (see outtakes).

I really like the way you have abstracted the pattern from the mundane. The strange light helps do this wonderfully . I think a slightly less extreme angle would possibly (can't really tell without tryin) make more of the zig-zag pattern. As it is I hard to work to get my eyes to see it
