  #102 B&W with a colour focal point
Entry 18 of 21

rescue adoption       ©2011 elliott
Olympus E-620       18th place, 9 points
1/80s, f5.6, ISO 1600, ?, Creative, Pattern, flash

Post-Processing: crop, selective color removal, resize       Extra Info: sun had gone down and getting darker than it looks, so high iso left it a bit grainy.

this was the first outing with this dog who had not been for a walk of any length for a few years. the woman who owned him just wasn't physically able anymore.
the 'rescue' has been equally felt by the dog and his new companion (sounds better than owner). and on this night they brought happiness and color to the world around them. (i know, sounds sappy, but its true....)

Great story and a very good idea.
Maybe the color part should be bigger than the b/w part (composition more to the right part of the picture) to make sure that they are not going into "gray times" but are bringing color into the world. Just a thought, not an expert knowledge. In my tt.

Interesting take on the challenge, as well as a great back story. Good luck.

raf, thought about cloning out the eyes but didn't.
jade, interesting you mentioned a wave as that was my thought but just not enough color going on to pull it off in this shot. very close to this spot was a stand of crimson oleander in profuse full bloom, and i mean really!!! like flowers on steroids (funny how sometimes you overlook or take for granted things in your environment that you see all the time but forget that others might enjoy a view). anyway, may go back with her in a crimson dress and try to make the wave of color.

I'm intrigued by the possibilities of colourizing a wave sweeping across the shot but unsure of its application here. Intriguing.

I find the two bright eyes on the dog eerie, like death rays LOL

I like the idea of their presence brightening things around them
