Creepy Statues       ©2012 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GF1       12th place, 63 points
1/3194s, f3.5, ISO 160, 40mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Adjusted lighting and color, cropped, reduced size, using Photoshop Elements.       Extra Info: While on a business trip in Japan, I came across these strange statues at a park. Locals told me that these were installed by a famous sculptor but they also agreed that they are a bit scary....

Great find - Perfect title. Too bad the background overwhelms the trail of figures but then again I don't want to see more of them LOL Certainly a good shot from the perspective point of view.

Hmm, perhaps they could re-christen it Son of Chucky or something! ;0))
Something a little unusual , which is not a bad thing and an interesting take on differences in cultural norms as well ...well done.

One of the most unusual entries! I like the framing and the perspective. The shadow on the face of the first statue is a detractor. Perhaps trying a weak flash would have compensated. Or perhaps spot metering would have helped to render more detail. Finally, with the lack of detail in the first figure, a higher F-stop would have let us see more detail in the background figures. Just some thoughts! Good luck. In my favs.

I like the way you've captured this group of statues. As I look at them, I wonder if the artist is showing a progression of one man as he runs along, alternating his steps.

yes they do look scary as they appear to be after your camera... wonder what was behind the installation. still a good find

Recently saw some equally creepy giant baby statues in Melbourne. I think the thought behind this has reinterpreted the found artwork to create a new piece. Well done.

    Freaky but effectively captured.
