Congrats on the finish Jade. Better make that a single malt and then maybe I'll tell you about the ghost that I saw. He looked nothing like the girl in your photo - just a diver with a full body suit working in the same cage as I was - except he wasn't ! LOL

Two high fives to you Jade! You were so right about the figure in the foreground.

Ronoz As to reasons, there are artistic and personal influences. As to the former, I just thought the photo would benefit from something more - I thought it was otherwise a little plain.

RolandB Your note means a lot given your images often set a standard which inspire my attempts to attain.

A good enough image by itself , but the addition of a ghost dosn't hurt either & nice work with the pp. It would be interesting to see what your reason is for the addition.

This is the kind of picture that always gets me excited about photography! I really like how you've handled this. The train light coming out of the fog is terrific as is the surreal girl!

    Thanks all for the comments.

For those that mentioned the shadowing around the edges of the dress, yes it is there and an easy fix I should have caught.

Michael, there is a reason for the theme but it's pretty personal and has nothing to do with railways - maybe when we have that beer. I'll bet this was done on the same foggy morn as the Ottawa shot.

Lo I like ethereal -- it has such an ethereal quality to it. :)

dave56 Thanks.

Ambaker Hope I'll learn for next time.

elliott Yes, it is a recurrent theme but I didn't start with this concept; I started under the bridge and just knew this was better.

fc Always appreciated.

hifi Yes, the whole shot needed that train.

An intriguing but thought provoking image. Minor quibble with the border around the girl but I image this is something that is very difficult to handle. I'm wondering about this recurring theme of death on the railway - I hope it's not something in the water :-) Love the composition, love the fog and love the incongruity of the girls light step and forward lean that is completely at odds with the setting you have made for her. No way this little girl is a ghost.

Such an evocative and ethereal photo. Beautiful technique in the combinationof the two photos, and in the positioning of the tracks and the figure on them. Love the detail in the foreground

Nicely done. My only quibble, and it is a small one, is to my eye there is a bit of a shadow on both sides of the girl, which makes her look a little bit superimposed in the image. Still one of my top votes this challenge.

reminiscent of jade's 'heading out to meet the morning train'.
great creative composition for the theme.
i would spend a few minutes cleaning up or blending the front left edge of the girl. also dark oval area in hair a bit distracting to me (don't mind me.... i saved this and opened it up with something that i could zoom in to the pixel level)
still a great entry and in the top two at the moment.
happy holidays.

This is excellent! Is that the train coming?

The shot could stand on its own without the girl, but she does add a very moody feel to the image. I really like it.
