Extra Info:
Bridge over the lake in Butts Park, a place where many go to exercise or relax in Daytona Beach, FL.
Ironically, there are plastic owls on top of the light poles to scare birds to keep them from landing on the pedestrian bridge.

When I saw this I hoped that whoever took it did not get as covered in guano as I did on my recent gull shot :-)

Thanks All! It was quite a mess there as you can see! It was nice chatting with the fisherman though.

I'd never have noticed the owl if you hadn't mentioned it. We've tried everything and have finally erected tall poles with fine wires criss crossed between them. It has made a big reduction to the number of birds fouling the beach. It would be even more effective if we did not have to take it down every winter. Love the bird in flight.

I like the angle of the shot, which uses the sheer number of birds to maximum affect, and that you caught the one bird in flight very crisply. Nice shot!

Something tells me the owls aren't working LOL. Great shot for the challenge

Nice leading lines, and perspective. The gull, as mentioned by others, really sets this one apart.

An interesting perspective and the outstretched gull is a scene stealer.

good capture. took a similar shot on one of the docks on the halifax river. as i walked along, they all took off one by one as i passed. just kept clicking away and got alot of them as they break into flight. (not a place where you can set your camera down or lean on that railing.... yugghhh.)
i see a shot in the open from st. augustine area. must be three members in the area now. should be interesting when we meet one day. i lost track of time and missed the deadline for this one. sitting on great shot of antique cars coming through tunnel at the speedway and another of granada bridge fading into the heavy fog last week.
good luck with your entries.

re the comment on the owls. seagulls in packs tend not to notice them as tghey dont move and the hunt for food amongst themelves. however if the owl head moves and the a gulls warning cry comes as well then look out for a lot white stuff as they the segulls fly off.
alternatively fire a black powder gun at them works just as well and more fun.
like the busy birds in the picture and shows nature ignoring us humans
