Wish this had made top ten. For me, the framing, colour, composition, texture, and subject are beautifully rendered. Smooth this out or give it a fine photo-finish and you lose much of what makes this one special to me -- for me, this is among the finer bird photo's I've seen and I'd be interested in seeing how this would do in a bird photo contest. If you find one and enter this, let me know how it turns out.

That is a very good bird photo, but would be still better after noise reduction. In my favs.

I wonder if using an unsharp filter would have avoided the white halo around the beak and head. Quite a bit of noise but I think it helps emphasize the cold. Beautiful study and you have the all important eye detail. Excellent composition using the rule of thirds too. Very attractive photo overall - love it.

Beautiful blues, and pushing the envelope on distance.

This is a great capture. The framing, color, lighting, and focus are all quite good. I see your focal length is at 420mm, which is the max zoom of the FZ50, and the ISO is at 200. I have taken many photos that test the limits of my FZ50 and I think this is what has happened here. The photo has noise that detracts from an otherwise fantastic capture. Good luck in the voting!

Great composition and colour. There appears to be a graininess, which usually detracts, but in this case adds a softness that I like.

Stunning picture! Photographing birds, I've found, is very difficult, so I appreciate the time it took to get this. Looks like a beautiful painting.

the colours stand out here with a good sharp bird. good highlight in the eye. a tighter crop on the bird to lose the out of focus branch/twig on LH side

Lovely composition. The crop looks like it might have been pretty severe.

I like the pose of the bluejay, and the overall composition.

Worthy of Audubon or any fine photography magazine. A completely pro looking shot! My number 3!
