    JadeO thank you for your comments it was muh appreciated.
I am helped by a subject who can take great pictures of herself and this was from a hour session. Unlike most people I hate set pieces and get people to move so sometimes. Also she is a very good mood pp like your self. This is one of mine own and very serious cropping. She was pointing a sword at me prior to swinging onto the shrouds for the next picture.
Mepo yes catch 22.
Thanks to everyone for comments and votes.

    Loved this one, though it just missed my top ten.

    I think the problem was that most voters did not realize why she had that stern look. By eliminating the sword you took away the reason for the look. If you'd left the sword in you would not have had such a super portrait. Classic catch 22. It's still my #1.

    You should do more portraits! Liked this more for all the reasons I've already stated; I think maybe some technical improvements to make the sharpness more like Steve's monkey (no insult to the lass intended) but really, this could be the pose for a movie promo or fashion mag still.

    I love here expression and the tilt of her head seems fitting a pirate. Very nice portrait.

    Nice angle for the shot - takes it out of the ordinary. Great colour and detail.

    Great portrait and more so because it is a candid. There is a lot of story in the whole frame and nothing that does not belong. I think this is among your best, if not your best, yet. I'd be proud of this capture. Tell me she got a copy and was pleased!

The vertical background elements are both complementary in colour and texture, as well as purposeful is establishing the setting and in telling that she is leaning and not the camera. The dark hat and shoulder provide the frame, the ornamentation the mood, and that look, the attitude befitting a pirate. Really a fine image.

    So sorry you cloned out the sword - still I can guess where it was pointing - it's a wonder you were able to hold the camera steady :-)
Her expression is dead on - I can see she takes her role seriously. Love the angle of the head and the match of colours with the woodwork behind. Very well done!

LOVE her expression - I hope you got the point :-}
