    Congratulations, elliott. Wonderful shot.

thanks to all who commented and voted. did we break a record with the total number of comments?
i have set the camera for 16x9 recently and left it that way (the full raw is there if i want it), but i tend to like the 'longer' shots i get. had blind faith in setting the camera to monotone that it would do better job of in camera conversion than i may get on my own.
also, while scrolling down to the comments, i see a few other crops that would work well.
thanks for all the encouragement and suggestions.

Congrats Elliott. This was my number 1 pick and I thought for sure it was a shoo-in for first. I love it!

A classic for monochrome! The patterns are irresistible!

The perfect image for a B/W rendering. I, too, like the hard angles and lighting contrast between the two sides of what would otherwise be a rather unexciting building design. Good eye!

I do prefer deeper blacks but have to agree you made the right choice here. Super shot - I can appreciate that you probably went out there knowing exactly what you wanted to capture. It worked really well.

Looks great - terrific choice for a monochrome challenge!

    First Impression - 5/5
Contrast - 5/5
Composition - 5/5
Tone / Texture - 5/5

I love this type of architectural shot. I had to check it wasn't one of mine ;) I think it might be enhanced a square crop.

Honest this is such a great structure with so much promise - I feel you've taken a "safe" shot so I feel a little let down - it's good but I feel the promise of great lies in the building and your abilities. But it is still an interesting study of lines, patterns and perspective.

This is great - scores high in my voting.

Good use of light and shadow, good angle too.

Great geometry in this one, and you succeeded in getting these in a narrower spectrum, with no pitch dark black and glaring whites.

This is just top notch in my book. Dang there are a lot of great images in the open this challenge. It's going to be a challenge for me to place them!

Love the symmetry and geometry of this as well as the tones and highlighted areas. It draws you from the bottom to the top, and thus to me is a complete image. Fantastic and in my upper T5 (though I have to be diplomatic as to which position). Hope it does very well in selection.
