Lines       ©2013 NEAT
Canon EOS 550D       3rd place, 156 points
1/14s, f7.1, ISO 200, 78mm, Shutter Priority, Partial, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped, adjusted contrast, added bi color user defined in nik effex, added grad neutral density, and adjusted luminosity, cloned out tiny specks, resized for web.       Extra Info: Taken at a local park. The bottom half is the reflection of a row of trees in the lake. I used a slow shutter speed and panned the camera down slowly to get the long lines. Abstract photography is one of my favorite genres. Thanks for this wonderful theme.

sorry about the short n sweet! was on my phone.. can't type on that! LOL and I have't figured this site out much, like how to send a message or what ever unless u comment on a shot... I had to LMAO when I read ur abstract BECAUSE I had done one (not the same but along those lines) in my pond, and it was all watercolory etc.. I just didn't think abstract.. duhh Yours is beautiful the color and the lines, wow... Hey if you moved the camera how in the world did you keep those lines so straight?? Any how Congrats on a Top 3 for your first entry! Great start!!!

I knew this one looked pro! Still think I would have ranked this well ahead of my entry! Congrats and welcome to Panachallenge.

Very attractive composition. Thanks for all the extra info. I can see this one on a gallery wall. In my tt but I must admit that I prefer it inverted.

Hi and thanks to everyone who gave me a vote of confidence, 14 so far, with under 10hrs to go. I have no idea where it will place, hopefully top 5. A newbie on here, but not a newbie to comp sites, I've been with DPC for over 3 yrs, but decided I needed a break, so I could concentrate on my business, I also post regularly to 1X.

I came across panachallenge just by sheer coincidence, Alex Baker, (ambaker) happened to like my FB photography site, and I had seen him on DPC but never had any interaction with him) So anyway I checked his FB out, and saw one of his likes was panachallenge, so I clicked on the link, and lo and behold I liked what I saw, just a small bunch of people who liked some friendly comp. I thought I would give it a go, and since the comp's are infrequent that suited me much better than the pressure DPC placed on me sometimes.

A big hello to Liittlemav, I thought she might comment on this but didn't, she's a friend from DPC, but I don't think she knows I'm on here yet, LOL!! Hello tvsometimes as well, and I'm sure a few others on here are from DPC as well.

Oh yes a big thanks to LaRee, I believe that's who suggested the challenge, great comment you left me as well. I love abstracts but never won an abstract challenge on DPC before. Looking forward to some more exciting challenges.

I have tried a few like this in the past, vertical camera panning with trees and water works very well. Don't like the colours, think more natural colours would have been better.

Reminds me of the beautiful aurora borealis that we are so fortunate to see in the northern hemisphere. Beautifully simple and effective

This is just gorgeous - pure beauty. I was very interested in and grateful for your explaning the "taking of" technique.

This is a fine abstract. With the ice-blue color, it gives me a sensation of being cold. I imagine there are icicles hanging here. Brrrrr! Good luck in the voting!

Excellent shot, and I really like this for the abstract being done while shooting and not in PP - in my top three.

The line is very nice, and I like the gradation from green to blue and the void in the middle. Easy to get lost in the black part and wonder where it goes. One of my favorites.

Good technique distilling the color essence of the subject into a non-objective abstract.

in my favorites . i like the work done with the camera before the pp
it is a shame that zoom lens do not have screw in handle to do focal length changes

You may not get a large following as some don't really "get" abstract but this one will be high on my list. It's gallery quality for certain. And my No. 1.
