Many thanks for the helpful and generous comments. Nest was located right behind our home in a bush only about 4 feet above ground (bad news for the new chick; within about a week after the shot, the bird was gone and the nest partially destroyed). I got the shot because the female had (imprudently) made the nest so low to the ground that I was able to shoot down on the bird. I had to work quickly though as the male and female were not happy about my enterprise, flying and diving about nearby.

Look forward to getting your feedback in future entries and enjoying your work. Dan

dk, quite a find! I can't imagine how you managed to shoot at this angle. I hope you let us know how you got this. Welcome to Panachallenge and I'm looking forward to your next entry.

I'm actually surprised this wasn't in the top ten. It is such an intimate look and is right on theme.

Welcome to the Challenges! Hope this effort is a sign that you'll be a regular here. This is a quality shot.

I can't say the subject is very attractive but it's perfect for the theme and beautifully photographed. The oof green boder is a nice touch. Well done.

I like the way the blurred foliage frames your subject.

Poor little birdie - but WOW! It's so ugly! ;-)
Great finding and easily in my votes.

The miracle of life! Great photo. This is a view we don't often see.

Awesome and yet there is something about the lightness of the green; I might have darkened it to really pull the eye in since I keep going around and around the outside.
Kept coming back to try to get this in my top picks but ultimately I've concluded as tough as it would be to do, the only alternative to darkening the greens for me would have been to put them in sharp focus.
