Thanks for the comments all! I had hiked a short distance to get the photo I wanted, which turned out to be unusable. So, I settled for this one. Unfortunately, the sun was directly behind the tree, and I had no time to figure out how to fix the flare! (Did love the the sky though!)

I really don't like the blown sky and lens flare though I appreciate that and your composition is what gives this photo impact.

i see where you were going. i think a much tighter crop on the trunks would be a more convincing tribute to rutgerbus's entry. still in my favorites after first go through.

Definitely had a difficult time with the lighting on this one. I do like how you put the tree in foreground to give it depth but seems due to lighting conditions there is a reflection at top of tree. Nice entry overall.

Such a beautiful sky! Not the closest hit on the original, but beautiful as is.

EDIT: OK, reading this again my formulation sounds like I meant your picture was far from the original - I did not mean that! Sorry!!! :-) I actually meant that it's not exactly a copy of the original, but very nice.
