mrsawyer: Glad that you are getting better and thank you for your congrats. Hope the next Op goes well too.
forkcandles: Mmm.. I'll have to get to grip with layers. I delve occasionally but avoid as much as possible. I know it is essential.

Wow! Let me be the 8th to congratulate you! I didn't get to comment earlier, as I was out with health issues!

Great result. New camera you could have as a prize. For the background using jadeO tips on gimp take a picture of the background materiel and then layer in pp.

Whew! I dont know where to start. Ive just got home from golf. It was on the golf course that I heard the news. My friend Peanut was also there on another hole and we waved madly to each other getting a 1 and 2 in the Main challenge. We are both new to this. (No, we don't compare notes!)
I also have to say "BOTHER" because I want to get a new camera and now the family will see no reason for it.
Thank you all for you comments and congrats.
Some commented on getting rid of - dropping - the pitcher. I'm glad my grandmother cant hear you - it is an heirloom. There were two of them but I accidentally dropped one

As I said I am a beginner and Elliott your comment about the background was right to the point. I had tried for hours to match the texture of the real painting. Can you tell me how I could have got it?!

I'm off to have stiff cup of decaf!

Nice double! Congratulations. What a great thing to wake up to! It's clear to me you won on photographic merit and bang-on to the Challenge theme in both categories. A great effort!

Well done! You did a great job of imitating Van Gogh's composition and colours.

Not shocked to see a Van Gogh interpretation but am suprised there is no Mona Lisa. This, also as another entry, makes me feel like viewing a painting and not a photo. Having hard time deciding if winning interpretation should be one that is close as possible to original or a variation of original. But overall I like your entry.

Great picture. Similarity with the original is uncanny. Made a fascinating still life.

Well done! I think I prefer your to his. To be honest I would 'accidentally' drop your tall jug if I had the chance LOL but it does fill the function. I deduce from this image that that you are right handed.

Amazing rendition and so close to Van Gough's. Everything works; it actually looks like a painting. Well done! My #1.

O.k. I hate the pitcher but everything else is very very well done. I think I may even prefer your objects. Great cover of the original.
