Panasonic DMC-FZ70       3rd place, 170 points
1/100s, f5.6, ISO 100, 350mm, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: converted from raw, sharpened and resized in cs6.       Extra Info: We spent 4 days literally stuck 'where we live' so
am submitting photos taken where we live even
though the intent of the challenge may have been
landscape. I took over 100 pics from the safety
of our patio.

    Rodger, welcome to panachallenge..
Did you note that, if we scroll the mouse up/down the squirrel seems to shake its nose and whiskers? that was so 3-dimensional.

mbbin, what was the zoom used in mm? was it 350mm ?

Beautiful, the main subject really stands out from the almost monotone background.

Congrats. I bet the squirrel was happy to have those sharp claws to deal with the ice. Love the detail in the eyes especially - great expression.

Congratulations on your finish! The detail in this image is amazing! The ice is something too!

Thanks, Lo. Also thanks to the model for artfully swishing his tail.

mrsawyer, I agree that praise from Jade O is always special. His criticism is also always appreciated.

Congrats on a fine finish! Very well deserved. Congrats on a truly fine shot - this could be a text book example of all the needs you need to do right to make a great photo.

Nice picture, but maybe it is a bit too sharpened.

I love the movement blur of the tail, and the composition. It looks a little over-sharpened for my taste, but is a great shot.

Fine shot of a squirrel (though currently I despise them because they have invaded my attic!). The detail and DOF are impressive! In my favs (even with my bias).

Wonderful and detailed; not easy to photograph these little frisky guys and you captured his/her expression so well. A top favorite.

Nice shot, looks like squirrel just sitting there posing for you. Tails on these squirrels also moving a mile a minute. From looks of the trees I'll take all the snow we have over that ice, nothing worse than trying to get around in an ice storm.

Wow - you certainly made good use of your time! I find this is a beautiful study in contrasts - the softness of the tail against the superb detail in the fur, the grey of the fence against the warm colours of the branches and the squirrel's coat. Well done!

glad to see being stuck in doors didn't waste the time away.
the head shot makes the picture work. IMO I would have removed the right side of the picture where the out of focus starts to intrude. some and i mean very little of the LH side as well

Great shot, great angle, great expression, totally natural, interesting but not distracting background; all natural. A winner!

Gorgeous!! And I love how sharp it is, while the tail looks rather fluffy. Great!

Very much like the clarity of the squirrel in this shot. The subdued colors work well for a winter scene and the composition is nicely done. One of my faves.
