i thought we were alone       ©2014 elliott
Canon EOS M       9th place, 98 points
1/250s, f5.6, ISO 800, 473mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: boost saturation a bit, crop, resize.       Extra Info: have many i'd like to share from an adventure last summer but they do much better on a large screen and i know we don't all have that ability to view entries here in a large format. this one seems to manage downsizing to what we view here without making excuses. and it reminds me of a book cover or movie promo taking place in some other world or post apocalyptic future here. was shooting for the clouds when the figure suddenly appeared.

Lucky the person did appear because I think that makes the shot. Right time, right place and ready to shoot. Can't beat that.

I love the composition. There is a story here. I hope I get to see this larger. Beautiful.

THis is superb, just love it on first view, it's just my style and right up there in my faves. All the best.

Great pic, the figure & tree make this pic along with everything else.

I think the figure adds a lot to the photo; in fact I would take out the tree as it divides the focus in two. Great colour and other-worldly atmosphere.

Great composition and mood, the human figure and the tree to the right give the image an eerie, tense feeling. In my faves.

Dramatic, simple. I think either the figure or the tree as focal point would improve the composition.

Nicely done. primal is my first thought. Great use of silhouette - simple & easily recognizable objects. Did you consider composing this without the tree?

Reminds me of a trip to France a few years back - I had my camera all set up for a nice sunset shot at the beach and just as I was about to take the shot three nubile young women appeared (I hadn't realized it was a nudist beach). Needless to say I told them to go away and let me take my photograph. LOL

Seriously - love this shot and can imagine your surprise in having someone appear like that. Glad you had the sense to take the shot - it was a good decision. I especially like the partial exposure on the foreground from the evening sky. Very well done.

Love it! The composition, the color in the sky, and the silhouetted foreground are outstanding. I'd like to see more from your adventure.
