I meant to ask. Were you in the water when you took this, or standing on one shore and looking at another?

Certainly a wide panorama and well executed but I find my eye keeps wandering. I'd prefer having a definite point of interest.

Thank you all for the nice comments.
A few answers...
@Joanna: Yes, I'd have liked to have kept more of the sky and sand, but to keep within the panachallenge size limits, more height == less width == scaling the picture down even more, which made the little boy on the left an unrecognizable blob, and I really wanted to keep him in.
@Jade: 'Surf Beach' is the name of the place, and it usually has plenty of surf, but yes, on the day the photo was taken the surfers were very disappointed.

@elliott: I can't claim any credit for the seamless stitching - the photo is taken using panorama mode on my iPhone (although that presents challenges of its own. Good results with the iPhone require a steady hand and lots of practice)

Nice reflections on the water, and the small figure certainly gives a sense of scale. Quite the panorama!

Great sweeping vista! No surf, no hint of surf, hard to imagine surf, but you still get my vote!

This is cropped too tightly top and bottom for my taste; there also seems to be a wide variation in the tones of the sky. Still gets my vote.

there does not appear to a point on interest in the picture

nice! thumbnail almost looks like a floating island. i'm going to assume it is a straight shoreline not curved. shooting it from out here avoided many of the problems that show up when stitching for a very wide shot. no glaring seams or mismatching. well done.
