I find the unsharp mask does a better job of sharpening without inducing artifacts and noise. I use 85-1-4 as my basic setting to start. However I'm sure it was the window blinds that caused the most problem with this shot.

Thanks to all for the comments on the sharpening issue. It may be my monitor, or my 72+ year old eyes but I didn't see the excessive sharpening.

The reason for the haziness is I shot the image through a window with 1" blinds and unfortunately caught them in the immediate distance. Had I raised the blinds the squirrel would have obviously disappeared and the subject would've been lost. I did quite a bit of contrast variation along with the sharpening and color enhancing and to my mind this is the best I could come up with. I was hoping the subject matter would overpower the technique, but you folks are too good for that.

Composition is good, but more clarity would have been better. Then there are noise as small white dots, maybe from sharpening.

Very cute shot, but there seems to be a white haze over the image.

Great filling of the frame. Unfortunately, it looks like way too much sharpening and/or color adjustment. The bottom half looks cloudy and remainder is very grainy. Please post the original in the outtakes after the voting concludes.

Great capture! Although the crop is perfect, it seems to have affected the detail in the fur. Also I think enhancing the colour or contrast would give it more punch.

A well considered crop helps make this an engaging image.

Nice composition and natural pose and a pretty squirrel. It does look a little over sharpened (required due to a lot of cropping?) and the easiest improvement, I think, would be to up the contrast to get rid of the flat cast.

Nice capture of the squirrel, just seems a bit over sharpened causing some unwanted noise to show up.

Nice capture as these tend not to stay still for long. Good use of the long focal length which as given a soft look but very sharp eyes
