The Lady In The Park       ©2014 leanneqld
Fujifilm FinePix S100FS       1st place, 196 points
1/20s, f8, ISO 100, 132mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: Some colour and contrast tweaking. Resized. Sharpened a little.       Extra Info: I went to the park in the late afternoon trying to find something for this challenge. As soon as I entered I saw this woman walking ahead of me. I took one photo of her only as she went behind some bushes shortly after I shot this. I took some more photos of trees and a stream but this was my favourite.

Well done, leanneqld! Actually the more I look at it, the more I like it.

Congrats on first place, obviously I was in the minority ;)

Thanks everyone for the comments and votes. I really got lucky with this one. I tried a few different techniques, blurring and camera movement and cling film(plastic wrap) over the lens etc etc but in the end one swoop of the camera when I saw this lady and this is what happens. Pure luck.

Beautifully done - the effect you achieved is first-rate (obviously)

Congratulations. Beautifully done. It's very satisfying when that first shot turns out to be the one! Always makes me wonder why I kept on shooting :-)

Congrats! I thought this should end up on top! Only 6 votes for first but I attribute that to widespread confusion/differences of opinion on what the voting and Challenge criterion were. In the midst of all that, quality still takes the day!

Very ethereal. I like the mood effect that you achieved. A bit of Wyeth in the image. Very well done.

    Beautifully done.

Beautifully done - you are evoking a feeling through the use of "brushstrokes" and light, which is what I think Impressionism is all about

This has an ethereal feel for me. Sort of like the lady is drifting or floating in the air. High in my favs.

your choice of favorite would have matched mine

I really like the painternly effect the woman gives, it's well done, but I have no idea why you didn't crop the trees out to the left and right. My eyes are drawn to them immediately and does nothing for the composition. If you had of maybe gone for a square crop and left the woman all alone with her thoughts in the patch of grass it certainly would of looked better.

Very elegant, even the symmetry of the figure and trees. Don't care for the sharpening; detracts from the "softness" of the scene. Took a third look at this and like it even more. You have so nicely made this whole; everything seems to be so naturally at peace. 4th looks a charm; my number 1 pick.

Very very good. Nice low sunlight and the lilac colours are great. There is a lonely mysterious feel to this image. Not keen on the title as the words 'in the Park' might be honest but they spoil the sense of mystery a bit.

Really give you top marks for this one.

Light and its reflection.
The appearance of quickly painted surfaces.
The appearance of short brushstrokes.
Separating colors and letting the eye's perception mix them.
Modern life as the subject matter.

A little weak on the last element but I think you've done wonderfully here. One of the few camera movement images that looks neither abstract nor blurred. My top pick.

Interesting image - the colors give an almost ghostly effect. But the figure is too close to unrecognizable for my taste.

Nicely done. One of my top picks from the start.

Thanks for your comment. I like the trees on the sides for the framing and to show her walking "through" the trees.

Lovely colors and mood setting, but I think the blur effect is a tiny bit overdone for the figure in pink. I also think the object on the right (a tree maybe?) deflates the power of this image by condensing the middle figure between the other trees on the left. See what you think if it were cropped out.
