Light The Way       ©2014 Edward
Nikon D7100       8th place, 130 points
10s, f4, ISO 100, 33mm, Manual, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Five, 10-second exposure shots, combined in Photoshop. Added fill light and adjusted white balance. Applied some tone mapping contrast.       Extra Info: Remaining as motionless as possible, my son held up a gas lantern, while I used a flashlight to light-paint several dark sections inside a covered wooden bridge. Each light-painted section is a different layer.

Light painting would be another interesting Panachallenge theme.

Nice night shot with mood (horror story starting).

As comments here demonstrate, some people like lens flares, some don't. As long as it doesn't interfere with major portions of the image, and add to, rather than detract from, the overall effect (like I think this one does), I tend to leave them in. Plus, it's a lot of work to clone them out, and if it's not done effectively so the background is blended in seamlessly, it can ruin an otherwise pristine image.

Impressive. Perhaps remove the green and orange bits of light?

Very striking image, well composed and executed, but I'm left feeling confused about what's going on here.

Great looking photo. All your hard work has paid off handsomely. I love the flair given off by the flashlight and the lumpiness of the floor. The only thing I think I'd change is the patch of vegetation through the gap on the left side seems brighter than I would expect and keeps on catching my eye. Darken that down a bit and it's nigh on perfect. Well done. GL.

This is an example where the extra info really makes a difference. Very nice picture and an admirable job.

Warm and cool at the same time. Good composition, great subject and wonderfully mysterious.

You put a lot of effort in here, and I like the end result. I think it would be a little better if you cloned out the top red and bottom green flare spots.
