You had my second place vote here, took me awhile to warm up to it, the more I looked the more I liked.

Nice attempt. I like it, though maybe if you cloned the instrument cluster closer to the bottom of the lights, cropped the photo off where most of the lights stop and crop a good chunk off the sides too it may have more drama with less black space. If you had done a 3-4 second exposure the lights would probably have been long enough to reach the top of the frame, but then hindsight is a wonderful thing ;-). GL.

Thanks, Lo. Maybe a little cliche but it worked out o.k.

Great colour - lots of movement - and a good interpretation of the theme.

Mercury Yes, it is zoom with slow shutter which together with the moving vehicle combines to create the light streak effect. I agree it is cliche so I was a little adverse to it myself, but it was the second last day and I was out of time so one shot and thought, This will have to do.

I am not a big fan of the motion (zoom?) blur. To me a stationary shot would have worked better. (just my opinion)
The way you've blended the two images in, are nicely done! I would have believed its taken in one shot. -if the speed and ref counters were blurred :-)

aoc46 Not a bad suggestion but any lower and the lens would be behind the steering wheel.

Phil99 Others suggested omitting the instruments, and I can see doing it both ways.

Cool! I like the colors and the contrast between the tidiness of the gauges and the wildness of the light lines. Bringing the two closer together via a lower camera angle might enhance the composition.

Like it. The contrast between the still dashboard and the moving lights is really good.

Thanks, Michael. I just lucked out on my first try. Usually I have to shoot a dozen to get the hang of what I'm after but this one worked.

Just the right amount of open asphalt to get a sense of where you are and fabulous colour display. Very lively shot and certainly on theme. I like it a lot.

johncomyn A positive vote from you means a lot. I thought the instrument cluster was needed to emphasize this is in keeping with the Challenge topic, but I also like the instrument cluster in and of itself as my thinking was it helps tell the story and put the viewer in the driver's seat so to speak.

I really like this one! Great car trails, I think the 2 second exposure was just right. I would like this better without the instrument cluster, maybe just with the hump of the dash and raise the shadows a little in that area.

Steve Thanks. My thought was simply to try to get a shot that worked. Now that you mention it, it would be interesting to see what different angles could do.

fc Wish I had a chance to shoot from a bike. Love to see your image in outtakes if you can upload that old Poloraid.

It's interesting and creative. I like the color and movement in the lights. I would like the instrument cluster to be more prominent. And since you were combining images you might even have cheated a little and used different camera angles.

cor this brings back memories. I used a poloroid camera and held the open the shutter with gaffer tape and black card over the lenses mounted on the handle bars of my motorbike and rode home.
an alternative to the layers would have been an nd filter across the bottom bit of the lens. a good result anyway
