Concrete Maker       ©2015 RobertLavker
Panasonic DMC-GX7       3rd place, 205 points
1/25s, f7.1, ISO 125, 22mm, Aperture Priority, ?, ?

Post-Processing: Photoshop CS5; mode - adjust-black and white, levels, shadows and highlights, transform - skew, unsharp mask       Extra Info: View of Prairie Material's Plant #32, a well-known maker of concrete. There are many perspectives of this plant; however, I felt that the intersection of the vertical, diagonal and horizontal structures lent strength to the image. The crane in the distance as well as the river on the right added to the sense of “industrial landscape”.

You're running up an impression streak in the last 10 entries. Wow!

Congrats! It was the right choice to go B&W.

An unusual choice to go B&W, but it certainly worked. Congratulations

this would look very bright in colour so well done on a B and W finish. well up in my favorites

No doubt about it being on theme. The deep blacks seem to hide a lot of detail which I think hurts the overall image and the grey sky is dull, perhaps colour might have been better. Love the line up of those big concrete trucks.

Fits the theme well with lots going on and nice composition. Not too sure about the B&W, Would be interested to see the original colours displayed here.

One of my favorites. This is a very interesting composition. I like how my eye wants to follow the road, which in essence is an "s" curve. I also like the B&W processing, but it is a little too high contrast here, for my taste.

I agree with your comments. The angular aspects make the shot, as well as the good exposure and contrast. Nice job.

Maybe but I didn't even notice the river. The image works in composition and framing and subject. No need to explain though your explanation is welcome; the quality of the image speaks for itself.

Really great composition! Love the lines. Very effective in B&W too.

Very nicely composed industrial landscape. I like the combination of straight lines and curves. Excellent light and interesting subject finish the job.

Nicely done - I like the composition - intersecting lines, the row of trucks leading the eye in - especially effective in B&W.

Like the way the long diagonal tries to lead the eye out of the frame, but then the dark one snaps it back again. Nicely composed, but a little too much tone mapping for my taste.

like the subject/composition. B&W right choice. Looks either over-sharpened and bit too contrasty making it too "grungy"-like (as could be created with an HDR effect).

I agree with everything you say about the image. B&W works fine, but I wonder how the colored version would look. High in my faves.

Lots of interest, with your eyes being taken all through the picture. well suited to B+W.

    Theme - 5
Technical - 5 good tonality
Composition - 4 B&W works well to emphasize the lines, shapes; diagonal lines are dynamic; elevated perspective is good
Originality - 4
Overall impression - 4
