Contemplating his next move       ©2015 NEAT
Canon EOS 5D Mark II       17th place, 52 points
1/40s, f16, ISO 100, 49mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Adjust contrast only       Extra Info: We went to NZ for our 25th anniversary, and went to Franz Josef Glacier on a helicopter ride first then a trek around the glaciers, time of our lives!

This guy with the ice pick, led the way in making pathways for us, then we had another guide who helped also, but the man pictured did most of the dirty work, here he is contemplating his next move!

The things that impress me most about this photo are the composition, the relaxed but focused gaze of the guide that leads you right into that beautiful mountain scene, and the splash of red as a contrast.

Nicely composed environmental shot of tools in use.

Great shot, good contrast between foreground/background. Should place high.

Must have been quite an adventure! Good composition, but the pose is a bit static, and the flat lighting didn't help.

Nice photo except the composition doesn't support the theme. My eye is immediately drawn to the bride red jacket, the ice, and then to the distant mountains following the climber's gaze. The ice pick and crampons are a minor, tiny element in the frame and the last place my eye goes only because I'm trying to figure out the tool connection. Had you shown some sort of closeup where the pick or crampons were the actual featured subject that would've have been more appropriate for the theme.
