Very cool. Congrats on the #2

I think the tilt made this extra special...

What part of Canada are you from will be there next month can't wait!!

Mepo That tilt may have you think it was alcohol inspired but I assure you, it is merely the result of too many negative G's, which reminds me, I still need to get up to Ottawa so we can hang together sometime....don't worry, my four point harness is good for -4g --which should mean together we'll be under max load so long as you don't bring along the cat!

    WOW Brilliant!!!!

I now wish I had of voted in this category, much better than the open one.

Congrats on the 2nd placing.

    Well done!

Aug 17, 2015
Only you would be able to finish #2 by firing off a random shot in an alcohol inspired moment as you staggered home after a hard day at the "office". Seriously though - good to see you back - in style!

Hope to see you in the next one Bill! It looks to be a pretty wide open Challenge and I'd love to see what you could come up. I'm please with the results of my efforts and the votes too, of course.

Nice showing, Jade. I liked this one in my top choices. Not so much the one on the other side. Still, two in the top ten! Had to sit this one out. Hope to get in the next one.

rules are meant to be broken.
in the normal view a green walkway the tilt effect works well and make it more abstract and interesting

Thank you each for taking the time to comment. I appreciate your views and feedback very much.

Good use of camera angle for effect. Give the feeling of looking up.

Aug 16, 2015
Good choice for the theme for sure. I like the idea of rotation to spice the shot up a bit but prefer it when I put the right handle wall straight across the base a a floor. That seems to fool the eye more than the 45 degree twist. My favourite part is the randomly shaped shadow snaking across all those flat planes. Kudos on an innovative entry.

Cool location, I quite like the angle.

Aug 16, 2015
Certainly much more interesting on an angle than straight on. Really exemplifies vanishing point, with great detail and colour.

kerszkavet Appreciate the positive comment. This is one that turned out better than I expected and it took a while for me to figure out but I think I know why. First to answer your question, I looked at the normal view (naturally since I don't stand on an angle) and thought, "O.k. VP but it is a little plain." Pulled the camera up to see what a rotation might do and it worked more or less. The key here I think is getting the top & bottom rays on the vertical centered and the left and right rays on the horizontal centered. Unusual here is that there are two rays on each corner which helps and a rectangular passage-way which nicely (almost) fits the image frame. (In other words, I got lucky!)

Sometimes rotation creates a more interesting effect, as in this shot, which puts it in my TT.

Aug 16, 2015
great shot on so many levels.
intriguing idea to rotate - would like to know why you wanted to do it (I like it - just never would have occurred to me!)

Aug 15, 2015
Good call, tilting my head to 'correct your mistake' makes the photo less interesting.

Aug 15, 2015
It works. In some shots, I like it when I need to take a little time to get my bearings. Along with the visual, it's part of the enjoyment of the look. Can't decide if I like the person in the shot; suspect I'd go more abstract and get him out.

Braking the rules worked. Love the shadows on floor and the angle. Maybe slightly more contrast or some sharpening, but a good capture. The figure in the distance adds a good sense of mystery.

Aug 15, 2015
very abstract in design, my No. 1

Aug 14, 2015
Rule breaker! Top entry maker! Fab shot!

Aug 14, 2015
Love the way you angled the camera. All the lines and shadows are very nice.

Aug 14, 2015
I am not sure that the rotation was needed. It is quite powerful as originally captured. Right on theme.

Aug 14, 2015
I wish you have convert to black and white- it is in my top 10 -

Aug 14, 2015
I like the swiggly shadow line, the aqua colours and the vertigo effect by rotating it.

Aug 14, 2015
One of my favourites that fits the challenge well but not sure that rotating the image has enhanced the final result. I think I would prefer the conventional straight on view!

Jade O.
Aug 14, 2015
Sorry, I meant cropped to square the edges, since a slight rotation made the edges angle slightly.

Aug 13, 2015
Break all the rules you want! I like it The colors, DOF, and lighting intrigue me! In my favs.
(You mentioned you cropped to square, but it isn't square.)
