Thank you oof; that's very kind. It sort of evoked a sense of Henry Moore without the angles but either way I'm pleased it worked for you.

And thank you all again for the additional comments. Each one is appreciated.

This is a beautiful image, no question. However, it didn't strike me as "paper" so much. Somehow it looked too organic (like a peeled vegetable).

    Bravo Jade O!

This one slipped by me - glad to see a lot of others saw its potential. Congratulations.

Thank you Bill. I'm surprised both did so well to be honest.

All the same, I thank everyone for their votes and comments. Each one is appreciated.

Nice to see I was right on this one, at least. Congrats on the win on the other side, but I actually like this one better. Good job all around!

Mepo Have no concerns, you guessed right and you're a good egg....

I would not have guessed it was a roll of paper; it looks more like an egg shape. The large outer surface appears to be wider than the unrolled tape on the left. Also the tape on the left has a soft shadow on one side and a hard curve on the other with no matching surface behind it. Technically very good. Love all the soft tones, the sweeping curves and the reflection. My comments are overly detailed since I'm guessing I know where this was hatched.

Old Finn I feel I'm still falling short probably in the PP.

babysister Yes I didn't use a tripod and shot only inches from the subject.

Interesting still life with those curves. In my favorites.

In my favs. Would have like the foreground to be in focus.

Bill, thanks. And don't be sorry, feel free to just roll out the puns....

mrsawyer The only thing other than the paper is the surface and the reflection in it. However, when I went with curves I created some artifacts. Shot in colour but white paper on a white surface with the light coloured wall in the background.

Neil You are right, of course, about the distracting elements. I blame it on lack of time to do a proper job of things!

Well executed b&w study with an interesting twist (sorry). I like the comp and lighting. A favorite.

A well-done abstract. Did you shoot this in monochrome? The reflection makes the image.

Update: On my second look through, I was curious about the grey thing under the paper roll. What is it? Why is it there?

This one did my eyes in! It took me quite a while to work out what I was seeing but I think I've got it now :-) .

I can't make up my mind if I'd have removed the purple and green colours which are possibly the product of chromatic aberration? maybe it is better with them. What is the dark grey shape under the roll of paper? I wish that wasn't there as it draws my eyes. GL.

Thanks jomari. I keep thinking this could be so much better. I'm guessing some will like it and many more will think it was a missed shot but we will see.

A lovely, subtle abstract. Well placed in my favourites.

    fc Thanks.

AC B&W made it too flat. I really would have preferred a greater dynamic range, at least with the whites, but frankly I did both entries in a rush and didn't spend time on playing with the PP to make this one work better.

well on theme and well executed

Lovely shapes, very intriguing image. Almost abstract. Did you consider converting to black and white? This would have eliminated the purple and violet hues. Still in my favourites, excellent image!
