sloop on a shimmering sea       ©2015 rd52
Canon EOS 7D       17th place, 47 points
1/2000s, f20, ISO 400, 640mm, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: convert from raw to tiff. Cloned out a crane arm of Gina, cloned out a couple of bright dots, cropped, used curves to slightly increase the contrast and darken the mid-tones, sized, and smart sharpened slightly.       Extra Info: A beautiful boat on an afternoon sail.

Thanks to all for the comments.

Jade thanks for the kind words, me too!

Old Finn there were no colors, I was shooting straight into the suns glare. No colors were present in the picture, I did not turn it to a B&W.

Neil I played with the crop, at one time I toyed with the idea of cropping it in the middle of the sails, below the numbers. I probably should have cropped it slightly higher above the mast. You asked what a sloop is, it is a sailboat with one mast and two sails. My picture is a perfect example.

Forkcandles I tried the portrait crop, but did not like it, I like giving the boat somewhere to go.

Again thanks to all for the comments.

like the picture but personally would have made it a portrait if there was space above the mast. there is so much emptiness on the right which the boat is taking the eye
this would look good as a silhouette

Have to love a sailboat on a shining sea! It looks like it is sailing to the edge of the world. In my favourites.

I would like to see this picture in colors.

What's a Sloop? Is that the type of boat? Maybe a little more headroom would have been nice. GL.

Printed large and framed, it could be a nice decor item.

Certainly addresses the theme, but the photo is of interest mainly to the boat owner. Needs more contrast.

Clearly fits the theme. Nicely composed and quite sharp. IMHO, overall it seems a bit overexposed.
