Thank you Mepo, and everyone else who voted for me!

forkcandles: I considered a square crop but at the end I decided I liked this better. There are parts of the seedhead that is OOF and a tighter crop brought that out too much.

A.N.Other, Anthony: I probably could have bumped the f-stop but I wanted to make sure the background was sufficiently blurred. I also intentionally cropped to leave the branch visible in a diagonal, I felt that it added dimension.

    Lovely macro. Lovely background too.

the crop should have been square to include the plant head and a smidgen of background colour to frame it
this would have allowed a bigger enlargement of the subject
a very good result as you can see the smaller parts of the planthead

I love the look at this pod. Maybe f4 or 5.6 would have helped get it all in focus if you could get away with the slower shutter speed. GL.

I really like the off-centre crop. The detail in the seed pod is striking against the soft pastel background. In my faves.

I like the overall effect you captured here. Could maybe have done with a little more DOF, and looking at your settings you had a little room to play with, maybe up to f5.6. But if you increased the DOF the branch which would have been in focus more, which is already a little distracting. Any lines that stretches across from one edge to the opposite edge of an image, carries a lot of weight even if it isn't totally in focus.

Interesting object, well-shot. The background color gradations add interest to the otherwise monochrome seed pod.
