truckin, I'm a going home....       ©2015 rd52
Canon EOS 7D       26th place, 27 points
1/59s, f9, ISO 400, 80mm, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Did quite a bit of PP. Processed from a raw to a tiff. Did some body work on the grille that was missing with the clone, smudge, and blur tools. Removed some grains of sand with those same tools. Cropped, rotated, sized, sharpened, and saved as a jpeg for the challenge.       Extra Info: A matchbook truck found on the beach by my buddy Jack, given as a gift for the grandkids. Not bad for a beach find, the wheels still turn.

This challenge made me use some photo equipment I don't often use, my tripod.

Taking and post processing this pic, got the song in my head, hence the title.

Mrsawyer I wanted to something different, not the usual insect, spider, coin or flower, I too thought it would do better. I played with it after the challenge, maybe sharper with a little more vibrance added would have helped?

Anthony C. you wanted to see more of the bottom? I could not show more of the bottom, I shot the truck sitting vertically on its rear end atop a blue cover sheet, on the couch. I would have had to draw in the road with PS. I liked the crop so close to the bottom of the truck, it gave the appearance of a large truck looming above you

thanks to all for the comments.

Very surprised this didn't make the top ten. At first glance, I thought it was a gigantic truck. Had this as my #2.

Nice idea to shoot the truck from a low angle to make it look massive. Not so fond of the background color, as the truck tends to fade into it.

A different, in your face shot, like it! Framing, dof and background all work well together.

great point of view for macro. gets you right down at 'street level'. not fond of background color... maybe if shot outside with real trees and sky would put this higher in my favs. just my thoughts.

Interesting idea and I think it works well. I like that no repairs have been made to the paintwork.

First impression - I'm about to be hit by a truck! I like that you got so close. In my TT.
Thanks for the interesting backstory and I'm glad that the truck is going to be re-loved. It brings to mind coming home from a holiday once, our boot (trunk) came open, and nearly all of my son's precious matchbox cargo was lost. He had them in a plastic bowl and the movement must have shot them up and out. I hope they were found and re-loved.

Well done. My only critique is that I find myself wanting to see more towards the bottom, like the surface on which the truck stands. But other than that, it is a very good image. You did well to emphasise the scale and size.

I especially like the angle from which you've taken this photo - making it look like a monster truck. Very sharp and clean image.

Good shooting angle and the background works. Not so sure on the square crop.
