It is interesting how nicely this image works in B&W. Well composed and nicely lit.

Contrast is good, given the subject. I am familiar with this plant species, and the colour version at that, I do feel that it is not the best colour combination for a B&W. There is no white in the photograph, leaving the tone range from mid tone to shadows. No highlights or white coming through. Although this can work on some photos, I don't feel it leaves the impression it should. This would be better in colour.

Succulent? Maybe a bit more depth of field would help; I feel you are caught between an indistinct background and leaf patterns not knowing which to look at.

Interesting leaves, but I'd be inclined to a tighter crop that removes the dead area at upper left and concentrates on the radial pattern coming from the three smaller leaves below left center.

the flash has given some depth and edges to the leaves bringing out the foliages edges within the leaves
looking at the speed was the flash a second curtain firing
