Many congrats on a well deserved win. This was my No.1 choice :-) .
A freshwater lake! That explains it. It must be pretty big to have waves. It was the title 'Shoreline' that threw me as I think of a shore being at the edge of a salt water sea/ocean.

another beauty John. Also a reminder of how refreshing our current Spring weather is...

Leanne - I think you are right, it's just a illusion.

Congratulations John. The first thing that stood out when I first saw the photo was the horizon on the left-just looks like it slopes down. I think its because of the sea wall that splits the water above and below it.

Congrats on your first and second. I recognize that light house. Our new neighbour hails from nearby Port Elgin. She says that she misses the wonderful sunsets that span the horizon.

Congrats, great shot and my top pick.
The horizon is only VERY, VERY slightly off. I think the dark land portion to the left gives it an illusion of that end sagging more than it is.

Another first congrats, thought the trees were yours.
Thanks for the ten you've given me a few of them.

Thank you everyone for the votes and comments! Really appreciated!
I'd like more peoples opinions on the horizon, I'm sure it's level but I might be wrong.

A.N.Other - Thank for the nice comment. Lake Huron Ontario, so 0℃ I'm guessing since it's fresh water.

WOW! What temperature does it need to be for the sea to freeze? Interesting and effective PP. I love the way you have a point of interest on every third...that's just showing off ;-) . GL.

Thanks to everyone for the comments!
Steve and Neat, I did straighten in my PP and was pretty sure I had it right. I just took this back into Photoshop and if anything it needs a 0.02 degree rotation to the right. Not noticeable to my eye. The pier might be the confusing factor here, since there is a sliver of water above that. You are welcome to give it a try yourself and let me know how much it is out.
There is also a island in the background that is messing with the horizon a little. Also there might be a tiny bit of lens distortion remaining.

Wonderful colours, and great use of the rule of 3rds. My eye keeps being drawn to the icy driftwood. Not sure if this was the intent, but I would almost prefer it wasn't there. In my top ten.

Very striking scene, with good use of Rule of Thirds, though the sun, lighthouse and rock/driftwood compete for attention somewhat. Like the colors.

The horizon is slightly off, not by much though, don't forget to straighten it next time :) Not sure if the branch is a distraction or not, I like the toning though and the lighthouse sets this off well. In my faves.

I am guessing this is John. The glamour glow is quite evident. I love the slower shutter speed creating the slight blur in the waves. You have 3 things each sitting on the intersecting thirds lines, which creates a nice balance for a landscape. I am wondering is a slight adjustment in temp to yellow would have toned down the blue cast (the lighthouse is very blue) and then also accentuated the warmth of the sun, possibly just a personal choice I think. A good image nonetheless. In my favourites.

Gosh that's cold! Lovely photo and right on theme. I love the lighting.

looks like you have 3... 'rules of thirds' being used here the light house... the sun.. and the ice covered log in lower third if image... good first impression, exposure and focus... in my favorites and TT.

Stunning image. Excellent composition with interesting foreground, and triangle formed by sun, lighthouse and foreground rock/driftwood. Just need to level the horizon to be perfect.

Post Processing Information
3 Exposures, blended with Nik HDR Efex Pro., used the Deep 1 preset, and removed the ND and vignette settings. Then used Nik Color Efex Glamour glow. Then a Curves adjustment, and cloned out some lens flare, straightened and lens correction. Warming filter, Resize and Sharpen.
