Congratulations Neil. This is a magnificent shot. I've never seen a spider with so much character.

That shot produces a menacing feel and is quite effective. Great detail and selective focus. Hope it does well. A favorite.

This fabulous! I love the shallow dof and colour range. The spider has so much personality - love his expression. Top favourite.

I love how the caption really adds to the photo. Stunning work!

I love this guy. You've used DOF beautifully to bring the focus right on the one-third line. The horizontal third just grazes the top of the "knees". Great shot!

You managed good focus on the important parts in this shallow DOF shot. Overall look is effective. In my TT.

Great shot of the spider, with good use of the Rule of Thirds. Like the subtle color, too - well done!

really?...they live on our planet too? I'd say a face only a mother could love, but I won't say it. Seriously, well done - so crisp and proper plane in focus.

Thanks very much NEAT - As this chap is about the size of your little finger nail it would probably have taken at least a 30 shot stack to get all his legs in focus, and as I was resting the lens on the floor, it would have been very awkward to keep in a perfectly straight line.

That is one scarey face. Shame you didn't get all it's legs in focus, still in my top picks.

Thanks very much Anthony. I had to keep on chopping slices off the bottom of the photo to get his head on a third. Sorry if you think he is now a little low now, but I probably agree and would have had him a bit higher up if it wasn't for the challenge theme.

A well executed macro! well done! In my TT, but I do wish the spider was slight more up.

Thank you very much both :-) .

SteveBee - No, this is a single photo. I kept it simple this time as I didn't take any photos till 10 hours before the deadline! While I was photographing this little chap it started to rain which put an end to any further attempts.

Excellent detail but very shallow DOF. Did you do any stacking? I'm guessing not.
