Thanks for the great comments :-)

Sorry to everyone who thought the hdr was too much. I did try to keep it to a minimum. Oh for a FF sensor and Raw so hdr wouldn't be necessary ;-) .

This is an incredible landscape, especially with the weir and the reflected arches in the water. What an amazing find. I find the pp pushed a bit, which is unfortunate, given the natural beauty of the scene.

Nice composition and light, I like the curved lines directing my eyes up towards the right. The processing, for me, is too busily pointilist and the colours over-saturated.

Suits to the topic. Beautiful view, several arches, good composition. In my favorites.

Eye catching subject, lovely sweeping curved composition with plenty of textural interest and pretty lighting. Almost too complex. My top pick.

I like the shot except for the halos from the HDR. Here's a pretty easy way to get rid of them using Photoshop. I had found this page a while back when I had a photo, much the same as yours. Beautiful scene.

Forget the wet feet, what bothers me is the HDR effects....but I am entranced by the arches, both the viaduct and the falls. There is an awe and beauty bordering on the surreal. This should be my top pick but my adverse reaction to the HDR puts in #8.

Composition: Excellent. I really like the colors, the lighting, how the lines of the small waterfall and the bridge lead the eye through the image.
Technical: Soft. Probably due to being hand-held and longish exposure. Landscapes should be pin sharp from front to back. I see you used sharpening, but that won't fix focus or motion blur. The sky is not smooth. Always exclude the sky from sharpening. Inside the arches you can see haloing effects of your processing. The colors in the sky also appear over-saturated causing those color separations rather than smooth color transitions.

Great shot. Worth getting feet wet over. I like the silky effect of the long exposure on the water. Well done.

Caught my eye straight away. Nice sunlight streaming through the viaduct arches and onto the grass, and the arch of the weir stops you falling out of the picture.

Thanks very much all :-) .

eagle1 - I shot at f8 to try and force a start burst of the setting sun under the arches and it's the f8's diffraction that probably caused the slight softness you refer too. I resisted the temptation to sharpen the photo too much as I liked the slightly 'dreamy feel' to it. I' not sure if my camer will stop down to f11, but I fear for the quality if it can.

Although it has arches in it - I might conclude that this is more of a pleasing landscape image of water and foliage. Additionally, details of the arches themselves are a bit soft (maybe F11 would have put more of the background in focus?), so the primary element needed to clarify what the theme of the challenge is, is lost as a background "filler", rather than an essential focus.

This place was worth the effort! I love the double delight of arches and reflections and then there is the third echo in the shape of the waterfall. Light is beautiful. composition just right. Top shot!

sorry not a fan of HDR
great composition and light but it feel odd to me with the HDR process. as long as the camera didn't get wet

Thanks very much both :-) .

ysal, I thought of cloning out the contrail but my PC broke before I had chance to see if it looked better without it.

davemisunas - I was really pleased with the way the reflection and the falls turned out :-) .

Great composition but the HDR look is a bit too overcooked for my taste. The contrail in the sky could have been cloned out. Still in my TT.

An excellent photo... strong first impression. The lighting under the arches and reflection on the water as well as the falls make for a fine picture. well done.

Hi NEAT. This is Cefn Coed Viaduct near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales, just off the A470. It is now part of the Taff Trail and used by walkers and cyclists only.

Worth getting wet for sure, a little bit too much HDR for me, but I love the scene, please include notes as to where this is.
