Funny I was crossing the same bridge must've been just minutes after you cleared Canadian customs. The black ops helicopters overhead, swat teams swarming everywhere, reports of terrorists taking photos of strategic targets apparently caused a multi-national alert..... |

Thanks for the comments and votes. I'll try to answer the questions.
This is the Ogdensburg/Prescott international bridge over the seaway and the St. Lawrence river between Ontario and NY State. Built in 1960 when I first drove across it. I've always admired the design of the bridge which is almost minimalist. No fancy frills, just a beautiful efficient and robust structure. The deck is perforated metal and you can see the water underneath if you look straight down. Car tires make a delicious sound if you drive across at the right speed.
I got the bridge cleared by mentioning that I was a friend of Doctor R. Lavker. That caused a security alert and cleared all traffic in both directions. Seriously, we were returning home with our trailer in tow and just doodled about until the way was clear. I'd taken some test shots on shore so as we drove up the bridge all I had to was poke my head through the moonroof and take the shot. I do have a couple of shots with cars coming towards us but they spoil the sweep of the lines leading up to the centre of the bridge.
The sidewalk is on the left side in the photo - one person wide and a recommendation to turn sideways if a truck comes though :-0
At this point, we were still on the US side. The border with Canada is just after you get on the suspended span.
I'm glad some thought I was standing on the bridge. I wanted a sharp photo so chose a low iso and a high enough speed to cancel the effect of our moving vehicle. |

This was my number 1. I love the lines. You obviously used the help of Chris Christie (gov. of New Jersey) to create some "bridge gate" so that there were no cars. |
