Wreck of the La Jenelle       ©2016 rd52
Canon EOS 7D       9th place, 89 points
1/250s, f7.1, ISO 320, 29mm, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: As a raw processed in Photomatix, Saved as a tiff in PS toned down the saturation, cropped, rotated slightly, resized, smart sharpened and saved as a jpeg for the challenge.       Extra Info: On April 13, 1970 the 467 foot La Jenelle, which had been anchored off the harbor of PH, was blown from her mooring, and deposited on the north jetty of the harbor. It quickly became a hazard, people were climbing on board and taking whatever they could, or just climbing on board to explore the grounded ship. It was soon deemed a hazard to public safety. In 1972 a contractor was hired to cut off the top of the ship, which was dragged a mile and a half out to sea making a reef for fish. The rest was buried in rocks, enlarging the jetty, where the remnants can still be seen today.

Thanks to all for the comments and votes.

I decided to use Photomatix, when I shot it, to get the hull parts exposed the water and sky were totally blown out. I tried all my programs and Photomatix was the only program that seemed to recover the hi-lights.

I toned down the saturation, just a little, thought it kind of made it look older.

Qixil, It's hard to make it look sharp. The rusted remnants are very corroded, not very many sharp edges.

Again thanks for the comments.

great gritty textures. Color bal or sat looks a bit off

The detail and colour in this photo are beautiful. I really enjoyed the historical notes. High in my pics.

Interesting view, looks historic. Well composed, good sharpness and nice colors. In my favorites.

The colours are great - but could do with a little more sharpening imo. But the title harks back and begs an epic poem.

Great job of turning debris into an interesting photo, and the historical detail just adds to the interest. Nice work!
