  #185 Colors Revisited
Entry 8 of 26

Complementary Colors       ©2017 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GF1       8th place, 97 points
1/320s, f3.5, ISO 250, 120mm, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped. Brightened the main flower and darkened the background slightly. Cloned out a water spot on the flower. Denoised and sharpened. Increased color saturation. Resized.       Extra Info: I thought the Orange/peach color stood out nicely against the green background.

I haven't been able to ID this flower, it is about 1" (2.5cm) across. It blooms in the same spot at a local botanic garden every year. I also always find baby Katydids on these flowers whenever they are in bloom (I will post those shots in the Outtakes later).

    Thank you mrsawyer!!

I agree with some that the flower is bit soft, but I wanted to keep the DOF shallow to get the nice bokeh. I think I overdid it.

This was an excellent colour choice for the theme. I really like the use of DOF to blur the background. The flower could be a tad sharper, but overall a shot that I've put in my top ten.

Good combination of colours but the lack of detail/focus in the main flower let the image down. Perhaps a smaller aperture would help.

I would like more sharpness in the background flowers.

Nice color and contrasts, but a tighter crop on the main flower would be an improvement, IMO.

well framed and great colour / your focusing with sharp / soft in same frame is very good

in my favorites... like the colors and faded background with a hint of more flowers... the edge of the flower that is closest to viewer is a bit out of focus, personally I would have like it as sharp as the center, still a very nice image.
