Post-Processing: Shot raw and developed in LR with adjustments to contrast, clarity, detail, highlights and cropping.       Extra Info: Perhaps not photographically the best, but the most interesting and fun photos I've taken so far this year. This is one of a series of photos I made in January of soap bubbles freezing. It was frigid for days and I had been cooped up in the house with a cold and was bored. I saw an article about making frozen soap bubbles so I decided to try. When it worked I decided to photograph them. It was an interesting project. You need very cold temperatures and calm wind and a special bubble recipe. I took the photos at night so I could light the bubbles from below and have a dark background to highlight the ice crystal structure. I wish I had taken a photo of the setup. Yes, my wife thought I was crazy. This was my inspiration: https://www.popsci.com/how-to-freeze-soap-bubbles-into-ice-orbs

Tell your wife true artists are a little crazy; that what allows the rest of us to open our eyes and see things we were blind to before.

Lovely 'ornament'.Thanks for sharing. I'd like to try this but I doubt that we get it cold enough. Could it be done in a freezer?

I looked at the website you posted on how to achieve this. I see that it is done outside in the cold. I'm still wondering if I can make a soap bubble in the kitchen then stick it in the freezer for a few minutes.

Great fun. Thanks for sharing this and the link. Loved the lighting you chose. I hope you will show us more shots in the outtakes. Did you get any good colour ones?

Until I read the extra info I thought this was a glass paperweight. Very interesting technique and it makes an interesting photo too. Thanks for sharing.

Clever idea. I'd be inclined to crop in on the "leaves," which to me are the most interesting part, unless the rest of the bubble could be gotten enough in focus to show clearly what it is.

Very cool, very creative and very good. We make what we can with what we're given.

Ysal: That would be tough unless you have access to a walk-in freezer!

This is beautiful and what an interesting technique! I want to try it but it never dips below freezing where I live. Do you suppose I can try this in my freezer? In my TT.
