Extra Info:
The ship has been in loackdown as all museaums are or were closed due to covid 19. the black squares are pained to look like gun ports.. when seen on an horizon its looks heavily armed. the ship is "dressed overall" as per admirality orders on which signal flag is and wearin the dressing. this is to maje sure no actusl words are included. for our American cousins the stars and stripes do not have all the current stars of a modern US flag. the ship shown with flags flying as it was launched 150 years ago and 50 years since it came back to its original dock. the ship also carries a white ensign on its stern instead of the usual red duster of the UK. this is because the first captain was RN and the order of council didn't lay down the flag rules for UK ships until after her launch which Royal navy has white ensigns and Red for the Merchant Navy.

Someone who understands these things says the signals read, Someone should take a photo of this ship and enter the image in Panachallenge.

This is a very pretty shot and definitely lots of different repeated shapes. For some reason I don't get as strong an impression of repeated shapes as with some of the other entries. Perhaps because there are so many different shapes competing for attention?

What a gorgeous old vessel. The one thing you didn't tell us is her name. Nicely shot. The sky really adds to the photo.

Quite the ship. Now what do the signals say?

The more I look, more repeating shapes I see! Well spotted. Good subject against a pretty sky. I may consider toning down the red sign in the lower right. Hopefully it opens to the public again soon.

A great piece of history, thanks for sharing.
I can see a lot of repeated shapes - but maybe too many? Would it have been possible to get closer and concentrate on just one series (e.g. a line of flags, or the rigging)
