Extra Info:
This is todays[17092020] high spring tide of 33feet rising from a low tide of 6ft.
this happens twice a day throughout the 24 hour period and this was the highest in the period allowed in competition and I had good weather in a sunrise coming from LH side
spring tide happens for a few days each month and the highest is due on saturday night

I thought the lighting and composition were exceptional on this one. The graininess I'm not so concerned about as I noted below. I thought this was one of your finest images and shows a real maturity in fine photography. Maybe the title threw some but I would have been happy with this shot. I could readily see it with a few technical adjustments to the grain mostly in a magazine of fine photography.

thank you for all the comments / much appreciated
Yes a bobo on my part, I had used the camera the day before for some low light shots and didn't reset the ratings, this coupled with the low level sunshine created the noise.
however I did try to denoise and failed.
I will add some images of the river at low tide in outtakes .

Wow. That's quite a difference in tide heights. I quite like the contrast between the pretty river and rather ugly concrete buildings and wharf.

It must be fascinating to watch the change in the water level in half a day. The camera settings seem unusual- perhaps that is what caused the graininess?

At 27 feet, that's quite an impressive tide rise. Like the composition, except too much sky; cropping from the top also would fix what appears to be lens or filter vignetting. Overall the shot seems under-exposed, which may be contributing to the noise.

I really like the subject and composition but not sure about the graininess. I don't know if that was added in PP or a result of your camera setting. If it was intentional. it probably could have been stronger.

Impressive tides! From a technical standpoint a few issues with the image. There's something cutting into the frame in the upper left corner. The image is extremely noisy such that the sky is gritty looking. Your camera settings are rather unusual for a sunrise shot. The high ISO 800 and an extremely short 1/2000s exposure time lead to noise. The short exposure limits the light reaching the sensor. The high ISO then amplifies the noise.

I like the dusky graininess and the curve of the wall.

This has a gritty industrial feel to it and the lighting is superb. Not sure if the graininess is a plus or minus but I like the image overall and think it might be outstanding if you got the grain out of the sky and water to make it glassy smooth while retaining the grain everywhere else.

the rough water in the middle section is where fresh water meets the sea and will start the drain out to low tide where the bottom of the river and lost shopping trolleys live
