Thank you all for the nice comments. As you can read from the comments, to decise the right croppong wasnīt easy. I did several variations and choosed this.
I used an external flash, bouncing from the ceiling, a small part as direct. Maybe extra diffusor to the flash would have helped. Because of some movement of the subject I used a short time and to get the rug sharp too, I couldnīt use very big aperture.

Neat I love it

In my first draft of favorites (top third). Fits the theme well. I especially admire the variety of colors and rough and natural textures that nevertheless stay in the same 'family' (well, except for the knitting needles, I guess). Maybe a little harshly lit -- too bad more natural lighting wasn't at hand.

The tradition of knitting in the household will go on forever.
I think it would have been better to crop the top right of the photograph since it gives the feeling that the subject is straining to make sure her head is not in the shot and adds tension to the image.
Beautiful colors, good luck.

A little more diffusion or bounce on the flash would have really helped this shot. Probably should have cropped out the neck completely, since the hands are the real subject here. TT

It's also tradition, I still bear them in wintertime.

I see that you wanted to focus on the hands knitting, showing off the handicraft....I sure would like to see the head and more of the body of your model. I guess the compositon is a bit awakard for me. Very nice focus and exposure on the hands.

Good subject matter.
Very nice clean, clear, sharp picture.

Wow! Five needles. I bet she can use chopsticks with her eyes closed ;-) I know nothing about knitting except it's the title of two chapters in 'A Tale of Two Cities', 15 & 16, and that it is a traditional activity. Composition is highlighting the craft and the aged chair and wall rug is a nice element in that. Was an onboard or external flash used? I wonder if a deeper and careful crop to her hands only would show better? Nice shot and good take on theme.

I love the composition and the exposure is very good. Very nice submission for the theme.
