Panasonic DMC-FZ50       1st place, 277 points
1/500s, f3.7, ISO 100, ?, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: converted from raw and sharpened in CS2       Extra Info: Shot at the zoo through cage(chicken wire about 1 inch circles) which was located about 3 feet in front of me and 4 feet in front of eagle. I was very surprised about the focus. You can see faint shadows of the cage, but I decided it would be best to leave them as is.

Thank you for your comments during this challenge. Also thank you for what I have learned from comments in previous challenges. Sometimes my initial reaction has been negative, but in most cases when I was objective, I understood and learned from your constuctive criticism. This recognition was greatly appreciated.

Very nice, good sharpness in the subject and the light in the white feathers is just right.

The great detail and perfect focus really make this eagle stand out from the blurred background. Making the fence disapear is a great example of what a large apeture and a little zoom can do.
Great shot. TT

Nice shot, a little soft in a few places (freathers/beak) , could be the cage wires as you said. In my TT.

Almost a great shot. I love the clarity and detail of the white head but unfortunately the body kind of blends into the background making for an unfortunate disembodied look (to me at least). Perhaps not a lot you could have done to avoid this though. Would be a great candidate for substituting a different background in PP. I don't find the faint shadows a problem personally.

Clear and sharp capture. A very interesting subject for this challenge. I have never seen an eagle so close. In my TT~! Good Luck!

Very nice work. I know how tough it is to focus through the wire cages.

*Extremely* faint chicken wire pattern -- I'd never have guess what caused them, or that you had shot through a fence. Definitely demonstrates the power of a wide aperture. Well lit, good clarity, no complaints!
