Post-Processing: Developed from Raw with CS3, added the wave from other pic in the series I took, little levels adjustment in the clouds, resized.       Extra Info: In the first half of the XX Century, lots of people from my city and my region emigrated to other countries by sea, especially to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, looking for a better life, job opportunities... and still today many of my friends go away looking for the same. The city dedicated this statue, Mother of the Emigrant, to all those people. It always transmits to me a sense of crude loneliness, even double loneliness, the one for the mother staying alone while her sons go away, maybe forever, the other for the son/daughter saying goodbye to all his/her surroundings, travelling to an unknown life and destiny...

Beautiful capture as well as commentary. I can see how this image can effect mood. A unique and lovely take on the theme! Good luck!

I had this idea but thinking a light house. But you have conveyed the message as well with that tiny boat in the horizon. Lovely colors and capture. Good Luck!

    Very dramatic composition.
From your Extra Info I am assuming you have included the ship to attempt to tell the story that you have related.
For me the ship looks like an ore carrier and adds nothing to the shot.
I think it would have been a more dramatic and appealing shot without the ship.
I would have then interpreted it as being a statue erected as a good luck symbol to all those who travel on this expanse of water.
Good Luck.

I understand your feeling very well. This picture fits the theme very well. I like the right exposure on the lightened ship and the silouette in the foreground.
Really well done. My favorite without doubts.
