The circle of life       ©2009 dodrizzt
Panasonic DMC-FZ50       3rd place, 125 points
1/125s, f3.6, ISO 100, 160mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: little crop, curves adjustment, selective background saturation, added b&w layer set to multiply to adjust contrast, selective over and under exposure, resize, a little USM       Extra Info: I was trying to find something to reflect the circle of life, live-death-live-death... and found these daysies that I thought could be a nice example.
Used an extreme macro lens attached to get background totally OOF.

Dear Billy i truly think you could have been the winner with this caption (my number 1)!
You and Jade O are my favourites!
P.S. a nice idea for fairy tales:you take a girl, poke an apple inside her mouth and...voilą,a new Snow White is born!
:-) :-) :-)

Thanks a lot to all of you for your nice comments and votes, I'm glad you liked the pic :-)
I'm really finding my little Raynox lenses a "must have", the results you can get from them, having a little price, are really nice, once you get used to so narrow DOF.

Nice shot, good idea etc. Nice detail in the dead flower. In my top 5.

It's interesting (and very effective) that you chose to put the old in the foreground. This is the kind of photo that makes you stop and look.

Well done. A simple exploration of the theme. An early favourite.

These close up vs background flower shots are not easy but this one works well with this theme.
