Alice in Wonderland       ©2009 Jade O.
Panasonic DMC-FZ30       4th place, 91 points
1/50s, f3.6, ISO 80, 35mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: This is a seven image composite, path, dandelion forest, rabbit legs, rabbit head, jacket, spectacles, and Alice, assembled by layering in GIMP, resized and trimmed layers, smudge tool to smooth transitions, clone tool to fill out the rabbit's belly under jacket, painted transparent grey for shadows, resized, sharpened.       Extra Info: Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Thanks again, dodrizzt, for all your comments. To hear what people think is the best part of the challenges and when someone takes the time to comment, I think it is the most flattering.

Your imagination in both your pics stands out, Jade, many congrats, well done!!!
And yes, re-thinking my comment, certainly a square crop would have substracted interest from the dandelions, along with cutting their tops... args, what was I thinking, probably it was too late at night to think properly :-) please accept my excuses ;-)

Again thank you for all your votes and especially your comments.

Mepo. I'm pleased you like it and it had the intended effect with you. I tried with Alice to make this a little edgier since I find Through the Looking Glass to have another more unsettling aspect to it. Here, Alice is in flight or being sucked in and I tried to get a more complex ambiguity to leave you wondering what was happening in this scene.

dodrizzt, you do indeed have my number. I felt I did not want attention drawn to the sky so I tried by leaving it washed out, to bring the eye back down to the lower part of the image. I did not want to crop (I tried it) as I felt the image needed that open area to emphasize the dandelioin forest; I did not want to cut the top of the "trees".

This blew me away. I got sucked right in to the tunnel. It took me a while to figure out what was what and that made it all the more special.

Another great effort mixing images, kudos to your imagination!!
(Is this one yours again, Jade? ;-)
The only minor fault is the white sky, maybe too much of that, wonder if a square crop would have been better. But the rest of the pic is greatly resolved, really seems the entrance to Wonderland :-)
An easy TT, and my #4 fav, well done!!

Thanks again Thomas. This one took more work and while happy with the way the concept turned out, I am less pleased with the lighting on the rabbit which needs a little more work to make it look really "natural".

Like the picture, nice photoshopping! In my votinglist,Good luck!

Thanks, Lo, Una, This was a fun challenge but the rabbit still needs more work to avoid the pasted on look; I think maybe I needed to tone down the white more.

I've never seen dandelions look prettier - great job!

Billm kjwags, thanks. I worried that the rabbit looked a little "pasted in" but after 3 hours of composition, I thought about blending in the rabbit more by throwing a green blade in front of a shoulder or encroaching on the jacket, and toning down the whiteness a little more, but it was midnight with hours to go before deadline so I just went to bed instead.
