  #60 Excess

Heading Home on a July Evening       ©2009 Jade O.
Panasonic DMC-FZ30       5th place, 92 points
1/100s, f9, ISO 100, 35mm, Manual, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Layered, resized, minor cloning to "clean" aircraft and jetwash (exhaust).       Extra Info: Long a symbol of corporate and personal excess, the personal business jet none the less remains an icon of personal comfort, status, and wealth (as well as being a useful business tool).

(The airborne photo was shot at 2,700 feet on a still and unseasonably cool July evening northeast of Toronto 6 nm from "home" --the destination airport.)

Pilot (aerobatic). But no on-line gallery. Maybe one day we'll meet nella Sestiere di Dorsoduro a Venezia if I am there next year.

Are you a hostess or a pilot!?
Here I am!...When you want.... :-D
P.S. in some version of gimp "overlay" and "soft light" are identical...
"a white layer overlaid with 20% opacity" YES!My english is too bad!
:-(

P.P.S. Have you a gallery on the web?I'd like to see what you're able to do!
A big big kiss

Una, thanks. It must be my style (whatever it may be) is getting too familiar!

Thanks to all for your votes and comments; every one is appreciated.

Thanks Franz. I am actually quite pleased with this one; it was a lot closer than you might think but you really can't use too long a lens...

    Nice PIF!
You must have used a long focal length. That looks pretty close.

Alberto. Oh my, you know me too well! If only I could take you for a flight! I'm not sure what a white level with 20% soft light means exactly in GIMP but I'm willing to try anything you might want to teach me...
(seriously, is that a white layer overlaid with 20% opacity?)

f_otto I was hoping to be in your top 8...

kjwags Thanks. The result of the recession is that you can pick up some wonderful jets at half what they would cost two years ago and probably make a profit reselling two years from now. That means you might just fly for free for two years! If I only had a few extra million to play with.

Mmmh...This surely belong to Jade...(if not take this as a compliment)
IT'S A GREAT IMAGE!
I like every element of it!
P.S. add a white level and blend it 20% soft light :-D

Beautiful shot. This in America at this time is definitely the best depiction of excess.
