Post-Processing:
Cropped, reduced blue mid tones, adjusted brightness & contrast, set white level to snow in mountains.
Extra Info:
The face of this glacier is 76m high and 4 km wide where it drops into the sea. The height of snow in the photo is over 20m (70 ft). It is hard to appreciate the size until a piece breaks off and falls.

I was sure this one could do very well, impressive subject & pic. Well done, Mepo! :-)

slieb25: As true to life as I could get it. Glad you liked it. Thank you.
dodrizzt: Out of earth is right! I felt like I was in another world. Highly recommended cruise. Thanks for your comments.

More great blue ice, I imagine this is from the same author of the main gallery ice shot, for whatever reason, I like this one better. I think for me its the consistent color throughout the ice compared to the streaks on the one in the main gallery. Anyways, in my top 5.

Lovely blues no doubt, the pic seem to be from an out-of-earth place :-) I like this one much better than your Main entry, assuming the glacier pic there is also yours (if not, forgive me :-), the blues here really stand alone. TT for me, well done!

rafinmenb: I happy you liked it - I think the photo was faithful to what I saw. Viewing glaciers for the first time reminded me of looking at a stop sign when deep diving. You know the stop sign is red and you see it that way but in act it is not red at that depth at all. Looking at a glacier I had to wonder if my eyes were deceiving me - the blues and greens were almost surreal.
Lo: Thank you, I appreciate your appreciation.
Franz07: Danke. Your comments are very much appreciated.

Stunning. I am imagining this is a companion of the other. Whilst both work this one will be in my TT. The blues dominate and the detail and context is stunning.

Congratulations on capturing the majesty of the glaciers. It's so difficult to give an impression of their size, and I think you've succeeded with this angle.

Very good finding! Nice detail in the foreground and well working veiling of the background.
This color is awesome!

kjwags: Glad you liked it. Actually the various glaciers have different shades of blue, almost to green in some. And of course the day light (or lack of same) affects it greatly. The Captain gives you the measurements of the Glacier as you approach but even standing there - you find it hard to comprehend. I went to the highest deck on the ship which was 200 plus feet and realized that I could still not see over the top so I had to accept that he knew what he was talking about when he gave the height as 250ft (76m). You are right it is amazing. I highly recommend the trip.

Now this glacier photo definitely shows the blues, like this one much better than main challenge glacier photo, more vibrant to me. Considering those sizes your right photo doesn't do it justice to appreciate size of them, has to be amazing to see in person.

Jade O. Thank you, high praise indeed. You are probably right about the dreaded dark triangle (once again) funny thing is that I waited for the fog to lift from the peak so that I could show what the terrain looked like. I still wish I could get someone to stand on the ice to give it some perspective of size. I've waited for years to make the Alaska trip and was not disappointed.

Awesome (though I would have fogged in the very tip of that prominent peak to reduce its impact and keep the attention on the foreground.)
