I appreciate and value you comments. I wish everyone was a thorough as you in evaluating shots. I suppose that includes me, as I don't have nearly the patience to do what you do. Cheers.

I actually had this #1 Bill. I thought it very clever take on the theme. I did make a comment on the forum about needing calibrated monitors for this challenge, and I made sure I looked at some of the challenging shots on a couple of monitors.

My comment on yours then was to enhance the IN the shadows theme a little with the exposure changes I suggsted. I can already see the houses and the way they are missing the sunset by being IN the shadows but I thought some additional emphasis would not go astray. Good work though, enjoyed the shot and the cleverness behind it.

My No. 4 so I'm a little surprised not to see this in the top five. Still a nice finish. Congratulations!

As indicated, only cropping and exposure adjustment. I have the camera set to -1/3 ev all the time. I compensate for that in PP. There is a correlated slight adjustment of gamma and offset to keep the levels consistent. That is all. No color adjustments in this shot.

how much PP you did? the colors in front does not look natural.

I'll respond to your comment, knowing that nobody will see it until the end of the voting. Your criticism is well taken and I was worried from the outset about putting this up. The problem is that it is one of those photos that shows differently on different monitors. I looked at it and tweaked it on two, both supposedly calibrated. I have no idea what others are seeing and that is the problem with this medium versus print. In a gallery I would have complete control. Here I do not. I just have to cross my fingers and hope that I got it approximately right. C'est la vie.

So this challenge was "IN the shadows" and this shot shows us precisely what is in the shadow even with the glory of a stunning sunset. I quite like that it sets up that tension nicely. Probably needs to be balanced a little better by perhaps cropping off some of the sky thereby giving a little more weight to what IS in the shadows. Possibly a little more PP as well, perhaps a software ND filter effect, darkening the top and lightening the shadows (1/3-2/3 only). I think this will be a TT and possibly high on the list for me.

What a beautiful shot of the skyline, and as well, there's almost an intimacy associated with looking through the trees into the residential area, where house lights have been lit.

There is a nice tonal quality to this image and a crisp but natural look to the silhouetted trees. The light in the lower right and the house in the lower left take more than they give for me and pull attention from the focus which should be the skyline(?) [Edit. I've changed my mind. They add more than they detract and bring interest and depth to what otherwise would have been a fairly flat shot.]

Beautiful sunset & shot of the cityscape, the scene looks to me to have the appearance of being a haze or fog, wonderful entry.
