Well, I missed my bet, but I still love your pic :-) congrats Jade!! top marks for your imagination, great PP as usual (I suspected the girl could have been added later, but the mix is so well done that is very hard to tell!), and your versatility seems to be endless... great job!!! :-)

Congratulations on your finish here. Very nicely done.
I want to respond to your comment here so that I know that you will see it. Specifically, you said "I\'m always unsure how to treat a photograph of artwork since a photo of a piece of art always has me trying to decide if it is the photograph I\'m admiring or the original artist\'s work." I understand your concern about this. One of my favorite genres is photographing other peoples art. In fact, I hosted a challenge on dpreview on that very subject. I think it is fine to do. Here is why. Artists have always riffed on other artist's work, often in a competitive way. To interpret through photography, the artistic creation of someone else is a tribute to them and acknowledges the importance of that work. It presents it to a wider audience than would have otherwise seen it. I just wish that I could credit the artists in the current submissions as I regularly do in other contexts. For obvious reasons they do not leave names and phone numbers at the site. Thanks again for your comments.

dodrizzt Thanks! I was unsure how this would be received. In reality she is even more wonderful without the imaginary clothing.

Interesting but is reality less fascinating? Asian, yes, but a little further east than Arabia... I really couldn't decide how to caption this one. Any suggestions?

Wonderful. Top marks for your creativity with the light painting technique, drawing that imaginary clothes, and very nice colours... my #1 and I'll be surprised if this one is not at least in the Top 3 at the end of voting. Well done!!!! :-)

Thanks, Raf. The 16:9 is just my own crop; I tried portrait mode and square but this looked best. As you can see below, the face was added later. She is my favourite model. ;-)

I like the 16:9 (?) format for this as it allows the 'shoulders of colour a bit of room. I have tried painting with light with my daughter and I got nowhere near the clarity of face. She (assumption?) must have been very still here whilst swinging the light about. Works well for me, always love the human element.

I played around with many variations; this is the one I liked best. The colour is from a light pen suspended on a string and set in a circular motion and shot from below on a long exposure shooting straight up. As the orbit of the pen declines, successive layers are drawn. A little smudge created the jitter effect. The face was inserted later.

This couldn't have been really easy. I've seen the technique explained and this is well implimented.
