Post-Processing: Adjusted contrast & brightness. Cloned one burnt out lamp to turn it on! Cloned out some distractions (garbage cans, sand boxes, etc). rebuilt the face on the bystander which was spoiled by a large white snowflake. Re-sized for entry, USM       Extra Info: Joy is the name of the statue, it is by Bruce Garner a local artist. The bystander on the right saw me taking photos and stopped and turned to look - sometimes things work out just right :-)

Dec 21, 2009		     Franz07: Glad you liked it. You have excellent perception. The previous photo was of a statuette by the same artist - both it and this group were made early in his career.

I think I already have seen this kind of statue in snow here on panachallenge - but it was not this statue... Maybe another one from an artist in Ottawa?

Dec 19, 2009		     Jade: Thank you. About 30 years ago I used to help Bruce (the artist) collect scrap metal from old farms and buildings. He believed that having metal that had a 'history' helped him make something worthwhile out of it. I guess you could say we were into environmental (and emotional) recycling :-)

Old Finn: Many thanks - I am glad you liked it - no doubt you have experience with cold days like this! I have learned since emigrating to Canada that you must get out and do something in the winter - sitting indoors is fatal on both a physical and emotional level.

Raf: The snow always seems to take the edge off the cold for me. The bystander walked right by the statue without a glance but I think he wanted to be in the photo since he stopped and turned, puffing on his cigarette, to look at the statue - maybe I made a convert to the arts :-) Thank you for commenting - much appreciated.

The human element add a nice touch as he admired the art work.
