Extra Info:
I was standing under the street lamp with my camera on a monopd when a man across the way yelled in an unfriendly manner to ask if I was photographing his house. I guess when I add a monopod, I look like the great-grandmother neighborhood terrorist.

Well, a monopod is a useful form of defence!

Well if it was me, I would have said, "Yes! Would you like to come and take a look, it looks great!" Who knows, maybe he would have posed for you! O.k. maybe not. I take it his tone was not friendly but explaining what you are doing and smiling a lot sometimes goes a long way. I actually tell people who ask that I am taking photos to enter into a photo contest and I never show identifying personal details without permission.
I like the just off camera light source and the tree a lot. I would have like to see the just visible edge of the tree trunk running down the side to the bottom of the frame to keep the tree from floating unnaturally and I really would have taken the time to clone out the distracting tree in the background which would have been a quick and simple clone out to do. In this image you have achieved almost perfect simplicity of subject and presentation, with one foreground subject, a neutral background and interesting light source and shadowing. The floating tree issue aside, the extra dark tree is a major distraction all the more so in such a clean image. I also think there was a bit of a breeze since the twigs seem to be suffereing a bit from motion blur. To be most effective, this image needs to be crisp throughout.
