Thank you everyone for your kind comments and votes!

As few of you noted, this would have been better if I included the entire butterfly. But I didn't think that would qualify as a "macro". This was shot with my 60mm macro lens plus Kenko extension tube.

SteveBee: I totally agree with you and I didn't like the empty upper right either. I tried cropping in all different ways and this was the best with what I had.

Nice macro, would have liked to see the whole butterfly.

Beautifully shot. Lots of detail and colour, and perfect dof.

Nice capture of the insect, but the red flowers kind clash with the orange in the wings.

Oh so pretty! And clear. I love the way the colours of flowers and butterfly coordinate.

Great macro image. Jumps right out at me. Well done.

Technically very well done in terms of sharpness, DOF, color, and exposure. Compositionally, the leaf behind the butterfly would ideally be out of focus. I also feel like the balance is off which is hard to explain, but if you divide the frame diagonally from upper left to lower right and then alternately cover and uncover each half of the image you may see what I mean. The visual weight is all to the bottom and left.

Nice colours, the lighting was harsh, but did help you capture a clear photo, well done with that. The image is very busy, the colours in the wings and the colours in the flowers is both fighting for attention. Maybe not a bad thing, just a little distracting.

Very sharp, would be nicer with the entire Monarch.
