Tone mapped - This is a technique used to map one set of colors to another on a single photo to approximate the appearance of high dynamic range. I used Photomatix Creative pre-set to get the look I wanted

Resized.
      Extra Info: The bright colors of the berries is balanced by the monotone stone.
The smoothness of the berries is balanced by the roughness of the stone.
The three larger berries are balanced by the many smaller dimples in the stone.
The shininess of the berries is balanced by the dull ness of the stone.
The sharp berries are balanced by the larger out of focus areas of the stone.
The form of the berries is balanced by the flatness of the stone.

    Surprised this did not place higher. It is striking and the type of image that I wished I had taken.

Jade O - The surface reminded me of a moonscape and as that was the first thing that came to mind so I went with it. Sorry about the lack of connection, it is just a title not a description.

    A good album but I don't see the connection to the image. A like the concept but feel something more is needed, though I'm not sure what.

    Good asymmetrical balance and color rendition. However, I'm afraid the scene lacks appeal for me as an image.

    You are probably correct. I did mean to try out different levels of cropping but never did. Just too busy getting ready for Christmas and it was a bit of a rush job.

    I love this image. It is striking in its simplicity. IMHO, I would have cropped out and/or eliminated the upper out of focus area. I think it distracts somewhat. Nonetheless, it is a marvelous shot and right on the theme.

    Once again a risker attempt at balance. The strong textured background and isolated berries just work and I agree with your balance assessment. The texture introduced here makes this a successful image. Well done!
